Spring Break Tutorial #1

If your stuck at home and want to build some small tech projects than you've come to the right place. Today im going to tell you how to make a Claw. Yes it sounds weird but let me explain that this is a fun project if you have time.
(P.S. the pictures that will guide you are in CAD mode)
What you will need are

3 x 3mm bolt
3 x 3mm nylock
some multicore wire
some 3mm dowel
3 small pull springs
glue
a drill
a servo
4 x 4mm bolt
4 x 4mm nut
Then you will need to laser cut or any other way possible cut out these shape that are made of Wood.
Which look like this

>Then once you've gained your materials you assemble your base plates which should be three of them.
But you will allign the two that have the three circles that form a triangle and glue them to each other and you can use bolts to alligne them properly.

> Then you will glue the six smallest pieces from the paper design and glue them into the baseplates.

> Then you will bolt the serve into one of the two servo mounts with the 4mm bolts and nuts. Then turn the baseplates over and glue the two mounts in.

> Then you will cut 6 pieces of 3mm dowel to 50mm long, then you will insert them through the 6 outer holes on the two baseplates so that the ends are flush with the side opposite the servo. If you want to ensure a good fit sharpen the ends with a pencil.

> Then hook the 3 springs over alternate dowels, make sure they are the ones that sit between pairs of the jaw mounts then you finally add the 3rd final base plate onto the dowels.

> Then glue the two "wrist" pieces into the 3rd baseplates

>Then drill a small hole horinzontally into the hole nearest the center. Also fill into each side of the other hole, so the spring will fit around. Then feed the end of a piece of wire into the hole, and draw it out the side. Then tie a knot in the end, and push it back into the hole. Then, bolt each jaw between the jaw mounts with a bolt and nylock.

>Then bend the end of the spring enough to fit around the edge of the hole, before bending it back into place. Run th 3 jaw wires down the central hole and tie them through the holes in the serve head.

> Then the Final step is to enjoy you accomplishment

how to create a simple pulse generator

Hey if you want to produce a pulse (measured in Hz) to use in maybe one of your electronic circuits, then your in luck because i personally used this technique and it proved very useful.

  1. First thing first is you need to get you tools with first is a circuit board with can be a PCB or not but i will advise against that its a waste of money.
  2. Then you acquire the other remainding components witch are a 7400 IC NAND gate a couple of resistors and capacitors( depends on your pulse requirement and to find what types of capacitors you need use this formula f = 1 / (2.2 x R x C) where f = pulse/frequency)
  3. to explain use this example if you want a frequency of 50 kilohertz and you have a 1K ohm resistor handy, use a 9 nanofarad capacitor.
  4. now once you found your required capacitors and resistors you can start to build by Insert a 7400 IC into the breadboard  in the middle of the board.
  5. Take care so the pins go straight in and don't bend or break. With a power supply of maybe 5 or 6 DC power supply off, connect positive power and ground to the breadboard.
  6. Then Using 22-gauge jumper wires, connect positive power and ground from the breadboard buss to pins 14 and 7 of the IC. Jumper pin 1 to 2, 3 to 4, and 4 to 5. Insert the resistor so one lead connects to pin 3 and the other connects to pin 1. Insert the capacitor  so one lead connects to pin 6 and the other connects to pin 1.
  7. Then you connect the power supply and when you connect this little project to a oscilloscope and you should see a square wave of the pulse that you wanted
P.S. if you ended up using two or more resistors and/or capacitors then you will need to use the parallel or series technique from this link

Final Robot segment

The majority of Japan's population is the elderly so what some very thoughtful engineers created robots that help the elderly. such as one named Mamoru who helps forgetful elderlyAAAAWWWWW how sweet! Engineers have fought of a way to reduce accidents on the road and they think they found it! It's the EN-V, a car that drives literaly drives itself and of course the people in it. It works with a lot of sensors and it can even talk to other cars like itself. Now imagine a future when their is no need for a drivers license and the reduction of car accidents i mean most car accidents are human error.

Robots part 2

I really wonder how lonely astronauts get in space. in a matter of fact japan is thinking of sending a robot to space so that the astronaut's can communicate through twitter. ( they better make one for Facebook or Mark Zuckerberg will still the idea and make it his own). Also one other thing is people in space are getting lazy i mean being in zero space is tough work so they going to send a robot know as Robonaut 2 to be side by side with te humans. Let's hope that they don't make any damage.

Robots part 1

I was watching CBS when they showed me something weird but cool at the same time. IBM's Watson supposedly a A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) supercomputer was competing on jeopardy. it made some mistakes( funny ones) it still a working progress. But the robot ended up winning a million dollar for charity. Now Watson new project is to work in the hospital with Columbia University center and Maryland school of medicine. ( i hope that goes well:O).
